Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer in-person therapy?
I offer only online sessions at this time. I use a safe and confidential platform such as Google Meet for teletherapy.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on the problem(s), your background, history, and goals for therapy. However, it generally takes between 6 - 12 sessions. Sessions are general weekly basis at first, and less frequent as the therapy progresses. Nonetheless, this can vary greatly.
I never had therapy before. What happens during therapy?
I ask you to fill in a pre-therapy questionnaire so that we can save time. It generally takes 2-3 sessions to complete the assessment. Once your therapy goal(s) is established, the following sessions allow you to understand your challenges better and develop coping strategies.
I am a teenager. Can you help me?
Yes, I work with young people aged 13 and over. Please speak to your parent(s)/guardian first as I will need to contact them initially. With their consent, we can proceed with therapy.
I don't live in Japan. Can I use your services?
Yes. We can find a time that would suit us both.
Do you offer couple/marriage therapy?
No, I don't. However, I offer consultations for parent(s) about issues with their child(ren).
Are there any issues you don't work with?
I don't offer therapy for the following conditions: feeling suicidal, self-harm, anger problems involving physical harm to others, learning/developmental difficulties (autism, ADHD), eating disorders, addictions, psychosis, or personality disorders.
Do you offer psychological testing/assessment?
I don't provide psychological testing or assessment. The services may be provided by a clinical or educational psychologist in your local area.
